From gratitude to grumbling she is hesitant all day. Noise. News reports, social media postings, billboards contrasted by cardboard signs that scream, "Help Me!" Faces. Blank faces with eyes that stare aimlessly at nothing. Voices. Annoyed, tired, anxious voices spewing words chosen with malice. In a world that seems so devoid of love she easily settles for anything that makes her feel loved. No matter what the price may be she believes she has found a treasure. One that she must protect and hold and hide. She chooses to believe the lie. Lord, not now.
Just like the lightening flashes for a moment the thunder rumbles a bit longer. When the storm passes the aftermath is illuminated with the new day's light. Devastation encompasses her. Scattered she is left to try and find her pieces. Lord, forgive me.
When we place people or things, be it possessions or addictions on the throne of our hearts expect devastation. Expect rejection, abandonment and disregard. Expect for God to leave you to that which you so badly wanted. The sooner we realize that God and only God can meet our every need and that He in fact is our only NEED, is when surrender begins. She realizes these deep yearnings within her soul were placed there by Him for Him. Do not place your trust in man. Lord, I surrender.
